Vermont Virtual College Fair kicks off ‘Vermont Applies’ month
Vermont Virtual College Fair kicks off ‘Vermont Applies’ month
Looking at colleges in Vermont? Mark your calendar for Dec. 2, from 3-8 p.m., to “tour” Vermont’s colleges and universities at the Vermont Virtual College Fair, hosted by Vermont Student Assistance Corp.
Register here and schedule virtual visits with the schools that interest you. Each college visit lasts 45 minutes with a presentation, video, and opportunity to talk with admissions representatives. Participating schools include Bennington College, Champlain College, Community College of Vermont, Landmark College, Middlebury College, Norwich University, Saint Michael’s College, Sterling College, University of Vermont and Vermont State University.
And get this: Most colleges are waiving their application fee for students who attend the fair and apply for admission in December. Learn more here.
The Vermont Virtual College Fair also celebrates the third annual “Choose Vermont” scholarship program. VSAC is joining the state and our colleges and universities to offer scholarships to students who commit to attend a Vermont school by June 1. Both out-of-state and Vermont students are eligible to apply.
Students who commit to attend a Vermont college or university between December 1, 2020 and June 1, 2021 and then register at ThinkVermont.com/scholarship will be entered to win a $5,000 scholarship from VSAC to their school.
And that’s just the beginning of a month of education and training events planned by VSAC. December is the month most students make decisions about where to apply and line up financial aid.
That’s why VSAC is calling it Vermont Applies month, with scheduled online workshops covering everything education and training related – like how to fill out the Common App; tips to write a resume; successful interview strategies; how to apply for scholarships; education and training alternatives to college; and how families can best support their college-bound student.
Dates and times include (workshops also will be recorded for later viewing):
- Resume Building: Introduction to Resume Writing: Monday, Dec. 7, 2-3 p.m.
- How-To: Common App: Wednesday, Dec. 9, 6-7 p.m.
