Hard work pays off for Taylor Lane
I am a senior at Lake Region Union High School, where I serve as our local Future Business Leader of America co-president and state treasurer for Vermont FBLA.
As local co-president, I am responsible for chapter membership, as well as helping run our weekly meetings alongside our other co-president and also making the weekly meeting agendas.
As state treasurer, I am responsible for posting our monthly balance sheet to the state website. Along with the other officers, I am responsible for improving BAA (Business Achievement Award) involvement for members throughout the state. Last spring, I placed first in Spreadsheet Applications at our Spring State Conference. This made me eligible to travel to Baltimore, Maryland this past summer for the National Leadership Conference to compete at the national level.
I also attended The National Fall Conference in Albuquerque, New Mexico. At this conference, we were able to attend workshops, meet and network with members and officers from across the country, and learn more about FBLA and all it has to offer. While also being able to explore a part of the country I have never been.
This fall 2019, I will be attending Champlain College in Burlington to study international business. I am a first-generation student and was awarded Champlain's Vermont First Scholarship for first-generation students, which truly made my dreams of attending college a reality.
